The Property and Facilities Division
The Property and Facilities Division is a diverse group responsible for maintaining the UQ sites. The bulk of real estate is located on the main campus at St. Lucia, with other campuses at Gatton 80km to the west and at Ipswich 40km to the west. The University also operates medical and dental schools in Brisbane and a number of research stations and farms throughout Queensland.
The University of Queensland is committed to embedding sustainability into all aspects of University life. Property and Facilities Division, manages the University's Environmental Management System, provides advice, and promotes best sustainability practices at UQ.
The Asset and Campus Services Sections within the Property and Facilities Division are responsible for the delivery of a range of services on all UQ Campuses. The Asset Services Team provides building maintenance, grounds and playing field maintenance, fire safety, traffic and parking and Security of the UQ estate.
The Campus Services Team provides services to maintain and further improve the environment in which members of the university community study, work and live. These services include cleaning, mail dispatch, fleet services, logistics, and furniture.

We are looking for an experienced Security Officer to provide resource services designed to ensure the protective security of all University buildings and grounds, staff, students and visitors on the Gatton Campus.
It is essential that all applicants have:
- A current Queensland Certificate II in Security Operations that includes Security Officer Unarmed, Crowd Control, Bodyguard and Monitoring modules;
- A current Queensland open manual drivers licence;
- A current St John, Red Cross or Queensland Ambulance First Aid Certificate, and relevant experience and/or education/training.
- Demonstrated reliability and a positive work ethic and with the ability to liaise with a wide variety of University staff.
- The ability to deal effectively with emergency situations is imperative.

Security employees are required to wear a Property and Facilities uniform as supplied and laundered by the Division and carry a personal identification card.
All new Security staff must undergo a set medical examination by the Director, UQ Health Services before they can be accepted for the role.
Security employees will work shifts in accordance with the current agreed roster, including day shifts (8am - 4pm), afternoon shifts (4pm - 12pm) and night shifts (12pm - 8am).
Security employees are required to hold a current St John, Red Cross or Queensland Ambulance First Aid Certificate and will receive a fortnightly first aid allowance.
Relevant Security staff will receive shift allowances in accordance with University of Queensland Enterprise Agreement, as varied from time to time.
The available position is a casual position. The casual hourly rate will be renumerated at $34.56 inclusive of casual loading per hour plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 9.5%.
