The role

The appointee will work in close collaboration with a team of researchers on projects related to the development of a system to monitor traffic and identify vehicles using a network of in-road microwave sensors.  Applicants should possess qualifications in relevant disciplines and demonstrate achievement and knowledge in networking, embedded systems, data mining and processing, machine learning, data aggregation as well as demonstrated competency in C/C++, and one or more other programming languages.


The successful appointee is expected to participate in planning and executing research as well as assessing outcomes and generating reports. She/He will be required to disseminate the outcome of the project in high quality publications and potential commercialization.


The person

Applicants should possess qualifications in relevant disciplines. They should also have a strong desire to develop a successful and highly-productive research career in microwave engineenring especially in any of the areas of Embedded Systems, Machine Learning, Data Mining & processing, IoT and/or distributed processing.  Good general research skills, a strong methodological background, excellent statistical and analytical skills, and the capacity to work with multidisciplinary research teams are essential. They  are expected to demonstrate high-level interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate, consult and negotiate with other stakeholders to ensure project objectives are met.

This role is a full-time position; however flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.



This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 2 years at Academic Level A. The remuneration package will be in the range $64,533 - $87,535 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $75,504 - $102,416 p.a.).
