The role

The successful candidate will perform top quality high impact research into microfluidics with a particular focus on developing new platforms for deciphering the molecular mechanism underpinning stem cell lineage decisions and propensity. In this role, the candidate will design, fabricate and validate microfluidic-based bioreactor platforms to investigate and optimise differentiation of induced pluripotent stem cells to various lineages, perform high resolution imaging and analysis of cell behaviours at a single cell through to population level and develop close scientific collaboration with other members of the laboratory.  

The person

Applicants must have a PhD in the area of biomedical or mechanical engineering. Applicants will have a developing reputation as a high quality researcher and be expected to demonstrate the capacity to build higher-level skills over time. You should have demonstrated knowledge and experience in the area of microfabrication design and device fabrication and validation, as well as knowledge and experience in use of MatLab or ability to rapidly gain this knowledge. Familiarity with Cad drawing (AutoCad, SolidWorks, Creo or ProEngineering) and demonstrated knowledge and experience in high resolution imaging and analysis of cell behaviours at a single cell through to population level will be highly regarded.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for two (2) years at Research Academic level A. The remuneration package will be in the range $75,557 - $87,535 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $88,401 - $102,416. p.a.).
