More than 4,400 students are currently undertaking a higher degree by research at UQ under the support and guidance of the UQ Graduate School. The Graduate School has academic responsibility for managing admissions, providing research scholarships, supporting students during their candidature, and facilitating the examination of theses. The Graduate School coordinates year-round skills training, supports infrastructure and research facilities, and provides opportunities to accelerate career development for HDR candidates.

The role

The Senior Manager (HDR Development) leads HDR engagement and development activities and support across UQ. Industry and international engagement are key components of the role; including building placement and mobility opportunities to enhance HDR development and employability strategies.

The role works closely with the Director, Graduate School and provides leadership and management of the HDR Liaison teams, in order to establish and drive a culture of exceptional service provision for HDR candidates, and provides operational oversight of the HDR engagement and development budgets.

The person

A proven leader of multi-disciplinary teams, applicants should also possess a relevant postgraduate qualification and experience at the senior management level within a tertiary institution, demonstrated ability in establishing a strong service culture, and previous success in managing change and driving service improvement. High level collaboration, influencing and communication skills are crucial for this role. An in-depth understanding of research training and development will be highly regarded.

This role is a full-time position; however flexible working arrangements may be negotiated.

This is a full-time, continuing appointment at HEW Level 9. The remuneration package will be in the range $108,810.14 - $115,144.01 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $127,307.86 - $134,718.49 p.a.).
