The Library provides a range of services to its customers, maintaining traditional library services as well as implementing new technologies in service delivery and the provision of information skills programs to a variety of clients. The Library pro-actively supports the University's learning, discovery and engagement strategies in a rapidly changing environment.

The Scholarly Communication and Repository Section (SCARS) contributes to research excellence at UQ. In partnership with the Library's Client Services, SCARS provides advice and support in a range of areas including citation metrics, scholarly publishing, open access, digitisation, repositories and research data management.

The role

As part of the Research Outputs Team, the Librarian, Research Outputs (UQ eSpace Team & Workload Management) collaborates with the Faculty Liaison teams to enhance The University of Queensland's (UQ's) education and research goals and to mentor and develop staff capability. The role delivers a broad range of high quality library information services to support the official UQ repository (UQ eSpace), research data management, research evaluation and impact, scholarly communication, and digitisation services; implements UQ's strategic plan and develops and implements the Library Operational Plan; and liaises with staff in designated organisational units to ensure that the Library is responsive to the research needs of the UQ community.

The person

Applicants should possess a relevant qualification/s, which qualify for associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association and have either an awareness or demonstrated knowledge of current trends in research, learning and teaching, scholarly publishing and information resources development within an academic institution. The ability to provide information assistance through a variety of flexible delivery options, knowledge and ability to use current technologies and information resources; and good communication, interpersonal, customer service, and organisation skills are critical in this role. Experience in understanding the information needs of researchers and analysing research output metrics; including citation patterns, and the ability to deliver information literacy training will be highly regarded.

The position of Librarian, Research Outputs is a broad-banded HEW 5/6 position and appointment at HEW Level 5 or 6 will depend on the skills and experience of the applicant. The remuneration package will be in the range $64,597.80 - $79,964.50 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $70,734.59 - $93,558.47 p.a.).

Please note that some evening and weekend work may be required in this position.
