School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences

The School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences was established in 1994. The constituent disciplines of the School are Audiology, Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, and Speech Pathology, with around 1,800 enrolled students. Undergraduate programs are available in Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy and Speech Pathology with graduate entry programs available in all disciplines. Each discipline also offers a number of postgraduate coursework and higher degree research programs. Each of the undergraduate degree programs is of four years' duration and includes both preclinical and clinical study offered in an integrated way. Except for the Audiology Program, the graduate entry programs are accelerated programs completed over five to six semesters.

The role

The purpose of this position is to work as a Clinical Trial Site Coordinator on a Project Grant funded by the National Health and Medical Research Council of Australia, within The School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences at the Universtiy of Queensland. The project is a randomised controlled clinical trial (RCT) of pelvic floor muscle education and exercise for symptoms of incontinence that often occur after prostate surgery (prostatectomy).

The successful appointee will oversee the conduct of a clinical trial at two clinical sites in Brisbane. They will coordinate the laboratory assessment sessions and work with other trial staff to manage flow of patients through the trial. Other activities will include contribution to data analysis, supervision of students and contribution to manuscripts arising from the trial.

The person

Applicants should possess a Bachelors degree or equivalent in a basic science or allied health discipline (e.g. physiotherapy; exercise science) with subsequent relevant experience. They should have experience with collection of physiological/biomechanical data from human participants. You should also have good general research skills, a strong methodological background, excellent statistical and analytic skills, very good writing abilities, and the capacity to work with multidisciplinary research teams.

This is a part time at 50% FTE, fixed term appointment at HEW Level 6 for three years. The remuneration package will be in the range $74,207.07 - $79,964.50 p.a. FTE, plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $86,822.27 - $93,558.47 p.a. FTE).
