The Centre has six interlinked programs namely, next generation urban water technologies, integrated urban water management, sewer corrosion and odour management, nexus of urban water, health and environment, resource efficient agri-industry and environmental biotechnology..

The role

The successful appointee will be responsible for omics research including genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, metabolomics and genome scale modelling, and meta-omics in a multi-disciplinary team working on methane bioconversion to liquid chemicals. There are opportunities to work with UQ’s Australian Ecogenomics Centre led by Prof Philip Hugenholtz and Prof Gene Tyson.

The person

Applicants should possess a PhD in genomics or bioinformatics, molecular biology, or microbial physiology. You should have demonstrated expert knowledge in (meta)omics and bioinformatics, microbial ecology, molecular microbiology, microbial physiology and microbial biofilms. Ability to apply bioinformatics tools to complex microbial processes is essential.

Remuneration

This is a full-time, fixed term appointment for 3 years at Academic level A or B, depending on qualifications and experience. The remuneration package will be in the range $81,545 - $109,419 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of up to 17% (total package will be in the range $97,961 - $131,446 p.a.).
