Southern Queensland Rural Health

Southern Queensland Rural Health (SQRH) is a joint initiative of The University of Queensland, University of Southern Queensland, Darling Downs Health and South West Hospital and Health Service funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health as a University Department of Rural Health.

SQRH provides high quality rural training experiences for pre-registration allied health, nursing and midwifery students in rural and remote communities across Southern Queensland with a focus on improving the recruitment and retention of health professionals in rural and remote communities. Additionally SQRH is funded to engage with the local communities to support the delivery of training to students, maintain and progress an evidence base and the rural health research agenda, support improvements in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, and provide regional leadership in developing innovative training solutions to address rural workforce recruitment retention.

The role

SQRH is seeking an experienced Nurse to work as part of an interprofessional clinical education team to support the delivery of coordinated, efficient and high quality clinical education and training to pre-registration health students across rural and remote Southern Queensland.

Located in Charleville, the position is responsible for supporting the supervision of students during rural clinical placements, facilitating interprofessional learning opportunities during student placements, and enhancing support and education to both students and clinical supervisors in rural areas. This position reports operationally to the Interprofessional Practice Co-ordinator (South West).

The Clinical Educator (Nursing and Midwifery) position is central to enhancing quality rural clinical education experiences and contributing to the development of a strong and positive team culture within SQRH.

The person

The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience and expertise in contemporary approaches to clinical education standards and the application of evidence-based approaches to health care in a rural environment within either the health or higher education sector.

Applicants should possess the ability to work flexibly with high levels of motivation, initiative and autonomy and work collaboratively with colleagues and demonstrate a commitment to improving access for rural and remote Australians to quality health services and a willingness to work flexibly within a complex organisational environment.
